Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a charcuterie board and a cutting board?

Our products are distinguished between the two types of boards. The main difference is a knife can be used on a cutting board, but avoid using a knife on a charcuterie board. This is mainly driven by the hardness of the wood species and the grain orientation. Simply, if you wish to keep your board free from knife marks, do not cut on the board.

Why do you use tung oil instead of mineral oil/wax to finish charcuterie/cutting boards?

In short, tung oil is natural, it dries, hardens the surface, and provides better water resistance. See our Tung Oil Difference page for a deeper dive into why we use tung oil instead of the other products out there.
